U.S. Jobless Claims Edged Lower Last Week

WASHINGTON—The series of Americans filing applications for new stagnation advantages fell final week, a latest pointer of a historically parsimonious labor market.

Initial jobless claims, a substitute for layoffs opposite a U.S., decreased by 1,000 to a seasonally practiced 214,000 in a week finished Nov. 3, a Labor Department pronounced Thursday. Economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal approaching 210,000 new claims final week. Claims for a prior week were revised adult by 1,000 to 215,000.
